Over the hills and through Frenchtown
Hunterdon County has some of the best biking areas in the state and some say some of the best in the country. There are miles and miles of country roads meandering through horse country, farms, woods and along rivers, creeks and streams. Each season (yes, even winter has mild days for biking) has its own unique beauty.
This ride takes the cyclist around the northwest corner of the county, starting on the Hunterdon Plateau with its fairly flat country roads. The route heads down to the beautiful Delaware River and follows the river to the quaint towns of Milford and Frenchtown where there are neat shops, restaurants, and bakeries. Below Frenchtown, enjoy the views of the Delaware and Raritan canal before heading back up to the plateau on Fairview Road. A few more twists and turns on country roads will bring riders back to the start.
